Jason Kauffeld, Director of Group Relations at Green Lake Conference Center, receives Rising Star Award from Meeting Professionals International. The Wisconsin Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) recently celebrated members, volunteers, and chapter accomplishments at their annual Gala. Jason Kauffeld, Director of Group Relations at Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC), received the Rising Star Award. The award is presented to a member who has been in MPI-Wisconsin (MPI-WI) for two years or less and whose time and efforts put them on a path to being one of MPI’s next leaders.
MPI-WI offers education, the latest research and trends, leadership training, best practices, professional development and networking opportunities. MPI-WI is in the top eight chapters in America with over 460 members. Jason has served on the Membership Committee and led, from the supplier/facility side, the meetings to organize the May 2017 Education Day.
Jason says, “In MPI, everyone is so accomplished, yet so welcoming and willing to share advice. I have invested deeply to develop language skills and cross-cultural competencies which come into play almost every day in the meetings industry. At GLCC, I use these skills to serve guests from over 50 countries throughout the year. I can relate to a diverse clientele and understand aspects of their culture which we can incorporate into their experience. I once bought the ingredients and helped cook pho (Hmong noodle soup) for over 300 attendees once I learned many Hmong elders at a conference were wishing for food from home.”
A member of RCMA, GLCC is a full-service conference center in south central Wisconsin, located on the shores of beautiful Green Lake 30 minutes west of Oshkosh and 90 minutes from Madison and Milwaukee. With 60,000 sq ft of meeting space and 300+ hotel rooms, more than 400 groups from all 50 states and 50 countries gather here year-round for meetings, retreats, workshops and conferences. Guests include state associations, nonprofits, schools, universities, churches, State of WI government groups, hobbyists and families. A variety of recreation is offered, and the center is home to the renowned Golf Courses of Lawsonia. The Links course is ranked #59 on GolfDigest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.

GLCC’s hospitality and unique facility provide everyone a place and space of ReCreation to discover a better version of themselves and their world. For more information visit glcc.org or call (920) 294-3323.
