A Recap of Aspire Lexington Regional Conference

Nearly 70 RCMA members met in Lexington, Ky., Aug. 14 and 15 for the 8th Aspire Regional Conference. Hosted by VisitLex, Hyatt Regency Lexington and the Lexington Convention Center, planners and suppliers were treated to great southern food and hospitality. An opening reception was held at the downtown Shakespeare & Company venue and featured live music, tasty local cuisine and Ale 8 ice cream floats. The Aspire trade show featured more than two hours of face-to-face time with planners and dozens of supplier partners discussing business opportunities.

Educational sessions included The Value of Checklists, A Food & Beverage Crisis – lessons learned from the Feeding of the 5000, Mack Dryden – an inspirational comedian and a lively panel discussion featuring four CVBs addressing current trends in the faith-based market segment. Planners from 10 states explored downtown Lexington venues and sites, considering the city’s offerings for their own events.

A post-event excursion to the Ark Experience—hosted by MeetNKY—shuttled 15 planners an hour north of Lexington to experience the full-scale replica of Noah’s ark and learn about Covington, Ky., and MeetNKY’s numerous abilities to host events.

I enjoyed Aspire Lexington. Since my next meeting is in Lexington Aspire was a help to
me in preparing for our Messenger Assembly of the American Baptist Association in
June 2018. Thanks for including me.
